Cards

One card. Either balance.

Pay in any currency you hold, from the same card. Dara pulls from the matching balance, so you skip conversions you never asked for.

Dara is a cross-border money platform, not a bank. Banking, card, and settlement services are provided by licensed partners. Rates and fees are always shown in-app before you confirm.

The spend-from screen in the Dara app, asking which cash balance the card should spend from, with All cash accounts selected at $20,101 above a US dollar balance of $18,037.31 and a Nigerian naira balance of ₦3,200,000

Lose it without losing sleep

Freeze the card from its own screen and it stops immediately. Unfreeze it and it works again, so the card you gave up for lost and then found in a coat pocket costs you nothing but a tap.

  • Freezing is reversible and terminating is not, and the app makes you say which one you mean.
  • Order a replacement and the old card keeps working until the new one activates, so nothing you pay monthly breaks in between.

In your phone's wallet already

Add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and pay with your phone wherever they are taken. What you add is the same card, carrying the same rules it had in the app.

  • A card pinned to one currency stays pinned there as well.
  • Adding the card to a wallet does not mint a new number, so nothing you already set changes.

A card for the moment

Different purchases deserve different cards. Create the one that fits what you are about to do, and let it end when you are done with it.

Virtual

It works the second you create it. Use it for the subscriptions and merchants you mean to keep.

Single-use

The details expire after one purchase, so a checkout you do not trust gets exactly one shot at them.

Disposable

The number regenerates after every use, which leaves anyone holding the old details with nothing.

Questions about cards

The one that matches what you are paying in. A card set to spend from any balance takes each purchase from the currency it is priced in, so nothing converts unless it has to. You can also pin a card to a single currency, and then that is the only balance it touches.

They cannot carry anything that needs the same number twice. Recurring charges fail on the second attempt, and merchants that place a hold and settle later, which means hotels, car rentals, and fuel pumps, will decline or leave a hold you cannot clear. Use a standard virtual card for those.

Virtual cards come first, and they work everywhere your phone's wallet does. A physical card is on the roadmap, and we would rather not give you a date we might miss.

Yes. A refund follows the original payment back to the balance the card spent from, so it lands even when the card number that made the purchase has already expired or been replaced.

Virtual cards are free to create and free to hold. Currency conversion carries the same rate as the rest of Dara, shown in full before you confirm, and any fee for a physical card is shown before you order it.
